Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics were one injury away to going to there second finals in two years. One big injury. Everyone knows I`m talking about the All-pro Kevin Garnett. With being so close to the finals it only makes sense to keep a roster relatively close to last season.

Last season the Celtics finished in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference with a 62-20 record, 4 games behind Cleveland. The Celtics were well on their way for making a case for leagues best record when trouble hit. KG went down. That pretty much summed up the whole season. In 20 years when people think of the 2008-2009 season for the C`s they`re going to say ``the year KG went down``.

Last years roster is as follows:
NUM PLAYER POS
20 Ray Allen G
42 Tony Allen G
11 Glen Davis F
5 Kevin Garnett F
4 J.R. Giddens G
50 Eddie House G
8 Stephon Marbury G
7 Mikki Moore F-C
43 Kendrick PerkinsC
34 Paul Pierce - C F
0 Leon Powe F
13 Gabe Pruitt G
9 Rajon Rondo G
44 Brian ScalabrineC-F
12 Bill Walker G-F

A very strong team, with noticeably one weakness. An able body back up Power Forward. Sure they have Glen Davis and Kendrick Perkins,(Glen Davis is set to be a free agent this coming July.) But without some quality depth they are nothing but a 2nd round playoff team. I suggest they offer Antonio McDyess a one year one million dollar contract to solidify a glaring need for one more year.

I hate to say it but I only see the main 3 (Garnett, Pierce and Allen) together for one more year. I think if expectations are not met in the middle of next season Ray Allen will be on the trading block, and Boston will look to get younger once again. Kevin Garnett is signed until the 2012-2013 season with Pierce signed till the 2011-2012. Ray Allen is under contract for one more season. I suggest that Boston tries to trade Allen to a buyer team next trade deadline for a elite center, and a young and coming guard. I propose:
To Chicago - Ray Allen (eventually replaced by Tony Allen)
To Boston - Brad Miller and John Salmons

Now what to do with JR Giddens. I really like this young man from New Mexico and strongly urge Doc to give him much more playing time. Giddens played a total of 7 minutes and 48 seconds. But did not look out of place, with proper training and teaching Giddens can be a quality bench player. I think that it will be the perfect time for him to replace Marbury (please don`t bring him back) and learn from Ray Allen for a few months.

Next Years Starters:
G- Rajon Rondo
G- Ray Allen (eventually replaced by Tony Allen)
F- Paul Pierce
F- Kevin Garnett
C- Antonio Mcdyess
